An Example of Art BEING Reality

This story is great, in part, because the characters are made so real, so life-like. You can almost hear their voices, and see their facial expressions. It takes considerable talent, and serious effort to craft fiction that is this realistic. I'm fascinated, watching the characters grow and come alive as the story progresses.

I normally don't read the novels but I read the first chapter of PADDLING UPSTREAM and was hooked on it. I can't say enough good things about the story. I am still hooked on the story and have re-read everything (except the final chapter) several times.
May Linsey, Michael, and Amanda continue to warm the hearts of all those who read the story for a long time.

Michael needs a new start, somewhere where no one knows him or the life he left behind. He decides to settle in Fournton, a small town, where good news travels fast and bad news travels faster. Michael meets Lindsey, a school teacher working for her Grandfather at the Farmer's Market, on his first day in town. Michael quickly sets up his house, and looks for his next inspiration, he's a famous author who uses a pen name so that he can lead his life the way he wants to.
>Over the course of several weeks, Michael and Lindsey begin dating, and it isn't until Lindsey pulls out all the stops, that Michael reveals his feelings for Lindsey. The two are constantly 'swimming against the current', Michael has to learn to love again after losing his first wife to cancer, Lindsey has to learn to trust Michael after she finds out he is one of her favorite authors. A tragic plane crash has the ability to change everything if you let it. Will Michael and Lindsey come out stronger, or will the current they are paddling against simply be too strong?
I loved this story for lots of reasons! The lead female is not some pushover, who is easily seduced. Michael isn't your ordinary BBF, he's a writer. And the story gives us insight as to what it's like being an author.
Lindsey is not afraid to go after what she wants, while Michael is the more reserved role. I thought this book was a breath of fresh air, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is simply looking for a different read.
